Happy New Year: Making Preservation Matter

Happy New Year: Making Preservation Matter

Release your inspiration...

The arrival of 2025 offers a moment of transition, a chance to appreciate the past year while embracing the promise of fresh starts and new possibilities. This is a time to set goals, foster connections and celebrate. As we look ahead, inspirational quotes, and resolutions all serve to inspire positivity and motivation for the year to come. Thank you to our growing number of Foundation members and corporate sponsors and for joining us in steadfast support of preservation.

BROADENING THE BOARD:

To kick off the New Year, the Board is especially pleased to announce the addition of two new members: Treasurer Kim Wilson and Director-at-Large Donna Griffith. We also enthusiastically welcome new City Councilmember Brian Penna as IWPF Council Liaison and thank Peter Rammer for his stewardship as Treasurer (April 1-December 31, 2024).

HISTORIC LANDMARK #7 CELEBRATION:

On December 10, 2024, the IWPF and City of Indian Wells celebrated historic landmark #7 of the original Sandpiper Garden Condominiums, Native Oasis and Native Springs, located within Indian Wells Country Club. Built in 1965 by renowned architect William Krisel AIA, they are distinct for their mid-century modern architecture, block layout, landscape gardening, and pristine mountain views. Seventy-five attendees enjoyed the afternoon event that included a personal tour of two evocative properties graciously hosted by Native Oasis homeowners Cleo Belestis and Anthony Coates and Native Springs homeowners Kim and Jerry Wilson.

Participants then joined City officials Mayor Greg Sanders and retiring Councilmember Donna Griffith, along with guest speakers Karen Prinzmetal and Sidney Williams at the iconic Indian Wells Country Club, Victor LoBue Room, for festive reception, presentations and plaque unveilings.

Recipients Sarah Crosby, President, Native Springs and Morris Skenderian AIA, Treasurer, Native Oasis were pleased, remarking on the earnest collaborations and synergy between both homeowner associations and their unique design of landmark plaques.
