Summer's Here: Time Out to Chill & Grill
WELCOME LOU URRUTIA TO IWPF BOARD
“My real estate career began in Southern California, investing in the real estate market shortly after college. In 1989, I transitioned from medical sales to full-time residential real estate sales and investing in the Seattle area and eventually acquiring a second home in Indian Wells in 2005 to enjoy year-round sunshine and desert living.
Grounded in integrity, market insight, and strong negotiation skills, my work has focused on new construction, community development, and the marketing of architecturally significant homes—deepening my appreciation for how design and history shape vibrant communities.
I’m particularly interested in helping the Foundation promote awareness of Indian Wells’ architectural heritage, build strategic partnerships with key players, and engage the community in preservation efforts. My goal is to use my strengths in negotiation, relationship-building, and big-picture thinking to align with the IWPF mission.”
IWPF thanks you, Lou, for your interest in expanding corporate sponsorships and enhancing realtor education about the historic legacy and architecture of Indian Wells.
NEW VOLUNTEER PROGRAM SET TO LAUNCH
Over the past few months at various IWPF events, we’ve heard from many that you’d like to become more involved. Hark! Secretary Ginny Whitman and Director-at-Large Donna Griffith have the perfect solution: Become a volunteer.
Starting in October, there will be fun opportunities to do just that -- volunteer. Tasks include welcome and register event participants, docent on curated tours, catalogue memorabilia, develop creative content, and promote media presence.
Interested in becoming a volunteer? Hope so. Please contact Ginny Whitman at secretary@iwpf92210.org for fast follow up.
SAVE THE DATE AND JOIN US ON DECEMBER 3rd 2-4 PM FOR HISTORIC LANDMARK #8 DEDICATION
Presented by Indian Wells Preservation Foundation and City of Indian Wells, this event honors the 1964 William Cody FAIA-designed Spanish Monterey ranch house and its hip mid-century modernist sensibilities.
Meet homeowners Sheldon and Stephanie Anderson, the stewards of this iconic abode. Tour the home, see historic photos, and hear fascinating stories about original, longtime owners Paula Vickers Petrie and husband Jack, and their circle of celebrity friends. Step outside to the massive pool and marvel at the breath-taking mountain views. Enjoy plaque presentation and unveiling, and celebration reception.
Event registration opens October 15.
With thanks to Councilmember/IWPF Liaison Brian Penna and the City of Indian Wells for their support of preservation and the heritage of Indian Wells. See you in the fall!
