Reorganized, Revitalized, and Ready
2023 launched a new chapter for Indian Wells. Built upon the longstanding 20-year history of the Indian Wells Preservation Foundation, a new era has dawned. And with that a unique collaboration has emerged between the City of Indian Wells and our Foundation. Both are strident in persevering and promoting preservation.
REORGANIZED.
Five new Board members were elected at our December 2022 Annual Meeting. Each member brings diverse professional and life experiences while maintaining a traditional Board title. More importantly, each is accountable for a defined action-area that advances the mission of IWPF.
In addition, the City has established ownership and protection of our historic archives (approximately 10,000 items) in a secure, temperature-controlled storage facility. The Foundation will continue its stewardship while accelerating greater opportunity for community enrichment and involvement.
REVITALIZED.
In four short months the new Board has actively positioned the Foundation for a new era of collaboration with the City and engagement with its residents. We have updated and streamlined the Foundation's by-laws, created a new branding identity, and inaugurated our first website.
Online at last! Now, for the first time, IWPF has an online presence. Our new website provides an easy way for those interested in the rich heritage of Indian Wells to stay informed about activities, register for special events, become a Foundation member, and get involved. Make history by preserving it!
Early-on opportunities knocked as noted:
- Presentation to Indian Wells Rotary Club, February 6, 2023
- Collaboration with Palm Springs Art Museum Artful Event - Coming Home To Eldorado, April 4, 2023
- Indian Wells Oral History Project - CSUF Lawrence de Graaf Center for Oral and Public History, City Council approved $25,000 funding, April 8, 2023
READY.
Ready, Set, Go: Here’s what’s next!
Three events - Fall fundraiser, December historic landmark designation, and January 2024 Annual Meeting.
Beginning next month, outreach to the local business community is planned to secure corporate memberships that will help fund future preservation activities.
Some cool new IWPF merchandise will be available for purchase once our online store is active.
We are dedicated to ensuring that IWPF becomes a dynamic and invaluable asset to our community now and in the future.
Please join us in making this goal a reality.
