Our 2024 Resolution: Reflect, Engage & Promote Preservation

Our 2024 Resolution: Reflect, Engage & Promote Preservation

As we step into 2024, the Indian Wells Preservation Foundation (IWPF) takes a moment to look back at a transformative year. Our achievements in 2023 set a strong foundation for the future.

REFLECTING ON 2023 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Enhanced Collaboration: A new era began with closer ties with the City of Indian Wells, strengthening our community efforts.

Revitalization of Governance: We welcomed a new board and introduced new bylaws, streamlining our operations and decision-making processes.

Rebranding for a New Era: Our name was shortened to Indian Wells Preservation Foundation, representing a fresh, more focused identity. This change was accompanied by a dynamic new look, including a logo overhaul, new marketing materials, and brochures.

Digital Presence: A comprehensive website and online presence were established, including active blog initiatives, enhancing our outreach and engagement.

Community Engagement and Events: We've convened and participated in several successful events:

  • Invited presentation to Indian Wells Rotary Club.
  • A musical salon in collaboration with the Palm Springs Art Museum.
  • A unique Architecture and Preservation Salon with Karen Prinzmetal, previewing the Desert Modern 101 UCR-Palm Desert OLLI Lectures.
  • Historic Landmark Dedication #6 for the Casa Dorado Mid-Century Modern Condominium Community and Clubhouse, a 1964 masterpiece by Richard Poper & Jess Jones.

ENGAGE: ONGOING PROJECTS

Indian Wells Oral History Project: With the City of Indian Wells Community Assistance Funding ($25,000) and CSUF Lawrence B. De Graaf Center, we conducted four interviews from August to December 2023 and plan six more in 2024.

Fairway Park Initiative: The City's first park project, Fairway Park, saw a groundbreaking collaboration with the City and Desert Recreation District.
